Sustainability engagement policy
Ambu was founded in 1937 with the mission of making a difference in the lives of patients and to change the world for the better. Ambu honors this legacy by taking responsibility for future generations and engaging in sustainable paths for our business. Sustainability is anchored as one of the four pillars in our strategy: Grow sustainably, for our people and our planet. We commit to sustainable innovation by circular design and to operate in a way that contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In 2020, Ambu became a signatory of the UN Global Compact. We thereby made a formal commitment to continuously complying and actively working with the ten principles within human rights, labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption, as well as reporting on our work in these areas.
As a global company we can contribute positively to environment and people worldwide through our commitment and enforcement of human and labour rights. And because we review our suppliers and their products and/or services with regard to environmental and social aspects during the total life cycle of the products, our positive contribution extends beyond Ambu employees and products.
Human and labour rights
As stated in our Code of Conduct and described in our labour and human rights policy we respect the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. We are committed to avoiding the use of compulsory or forced labour and child labour (as defined by the UK Modern Slavery Act) in any of our operations. We do not tolerate sexual harassment or any kind of abuse or harassment whether direct or indirect, physical or psychological, verbal or non-verbal.
We offer fair working conditions for all employees in alignment with applicable labour laws and good practice, and we are committed to ensuring workplaces that are characterized by a professional and social atmosphere, where the safety of our employees is in focus. We believe that diversity is a valuable attribute in a global company, we are therefore committed to promoting a culture of inclusion and mutual trust, dignity and respect regardless of race, age, religion, political conviction, colour, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status or disability.
Climate and environment
Climate and environmental considerations are integrated in our business activities both internally (directly manageable) and externally (indirectly manageable), and we are committed to following local legislation and engaging in dialogue and cooperation with local authorities.
Environmental and climate data indicators are monitored continuously, and we have set ambitious sustainability targets. As a growing company our resource use and emissions increases, we therefore strive to minimize our climate and environmental footprint and decouple this from our growth.
Anti-corruption
We are committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations and to work against corruption and bribery in all their forms. Ambu has a zero-tolerance approach towards bribery, fraud and other types of inappropriate business behaviour as described in our Code of Conduct. We encourage the reporting to the Ambu Whistleblower Hotline of all violations and/or suspected violations of laws or regulations that govern Ambu’s operations, the Ambu Code of Conduct or other potentially unethical behavior done by Ambu employees or third parties interacting with or working on our behalf.
Continuous improvement
Sustainability covers a wide variety of topics and involves many different stakeholders. We commit to disclosing our sustainability policies, targets and progress in our annual sustainability report, and to engage with our stakeholders to continuously improve our sustainability performance in accordance with our stakeholder’s expectations.
