Human capital management

Ambu is a purpose and values-driven company, which aspires to foster a highly engaged, diverse and inclusive culture in which individuals and teams can grow together as Ambu grows. We are made up of people who want to be challenged, drive results and make a difference for our customers, and we are committed to continuing to unlock the full power of our people and culture.

At the core of our business lies our purpose, Together, we rethink solutions to save lives and improve patient care. It encapsulates our ‘why’ as a company and constitutes the guiding star for our shared Ambu culture.  In combination with our purpose, our values reflect Ambu at its best and shape our daily culture of innovation by guiding our decisions and behaviours across our organisation.

Employee engagement

In our continuous efforts to foster an engaged culture at Ambu, it is important to keep track of the engagement of our people. A key indicator of the health of our workforce is our employee engagement survey, in which our global workforce members make their individual, anonymised voices heard.

The Ambu Dialogue

As Ambu grows, we believe that a continuous focus on personal development is of high priority. This is why we have a global framework in place, the AmbuDialogue, which ensures regular touchpoints between employees and leaders on motivation, responsibilities and development.

Ambitions and targets for human capital management

Ambu employs 5000+ people globally. Ensuring safe working conditions is a key priority, encompassing a focus on both physical and mental well-being of our employees. We believe that our purpose of saving lives and improving patient care through innovation, combined with our values and focus on mental well-being, leads to high job satisfaction and a healthy working environment.

The health and safety officers appointed at our locations are responsible for systematic training, registration and reporting – and for checking that safety procedures adequately match the risk level. We do this to ensure that safety training is tailored to local needs and allows for flexibility that takes local laws and traditions into account.

We monitor the health and safety of our employees through data points for accidents and fatalities, as well as sickness absence. While we have no official target for our global sickness absence rate, we monitor our performance closely to ensure that we maintain a healthy working environment that does not add risk factors to the health of our employees.

Ambitions & targets for employee health and safety

Ensure safe working conditions for all.

  • Our target is to stay below 2.0 for Lost-Time Injury frequency (LTIf), which covers Ambu globally.

Employee diversity, equity and inclusion

Ambu is an innovation-driven company. New ways of thinking, different perspectives and a strong, harmonious culture are key to Ambu’s success. We believe that our company survives and prospers because of our people.

Therefore, there should be equal opportunities for all irrespective of gender, age, race, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, education, perspective and other diversity factors.

A diverse and inclusive work environment in which employees feel valued for their individuality and feel safe to speak up, benefits our business. It encourages innovation, but most importantly, supports employee growth and development.

A combination of local and global initiatives

As we operate in a global environment, we recognise that a diverse and inclusive working environment will mean different things for different sets of employees. We therefore approach this through a mixture of global and localised initiatives. For example, Ambu:

  • Has signed to commit to the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles
  • Continuously ensures an accessible working environment across all our sites
  • Facilitates employee-driven local initiatives, employee resource groups and global strategic approaches that help us live up to our Global Diversity & Inclusion Policy
  • Continuously evaluates our facilities to ensure equitable access
  • Has set up local initiatives, such as language courses and support with integrating expats to new locations.
  • Uses English as the official corporate language to promotes a high level of cross-border communication, intercompany integration and professional colleague relationships across locations

Diversity in management goes beyond gender

Tangible KPIs help us measure our progress as we work to increase diversity across all parameters and ensure a truly global workforce.

This includes a commitment to equal pay for equal work, the absence of structural inequalities in the remuneration of employees, and a focus on identifying areas where diversity and inclusion can be strengthened.

Ambitions & targets diversity, equity and inclusion

Promote equality and inclusion for all and continue our work to ensure that Ambu remains an inclusive, equal and diverse place to work.

  • Our target is to have 40% representation of women in management at all levels
